Tips for Your
Baby's 1st Birthday

  • 'Ones' have absolutely no concept of parties, despite the significance of the occasion. Schedules and formal games are unnecessary. But since the first birthday is such a landmark, it still is a must-do event. Keep the event short—1/2 to 1 hour—will more than suffice. This party is really for you and the family. It's fine for it to be an 'adults-only' event. Afterall, it is really a celebration of the anniversary of your becoming a parent.
  • Capturing the moment is vital. Whether you are using a disposable camera or the latest digital or video equiptment, go for it. Be sure to capture photos of all the adults present too. These can be just as meaningful in later years as the photo of your child getting covered with cake frosting. Photos need to also include you—the parents.
