Chores are an important part of the structure that acts as the security children crave. Add these chores to the daily routine:
Making beds;
Helping make breakfast and clearing-up dishes;
Washing and packing the dishes;
Prepping an area for the “schooling” or learning that needs to take place;
Clearing up the “schooling” clutter and prepare for some creative arts or physical activities;
“Spring clean” or clean-up house: now is your opportunity to give attention to those piles of tasks you’ve been wanting to do or laid off till you get time. Well, NOW is THAT time! All those toys that your children keep piling and never play with, the clothes that you and the children haven’t been wearing over a year, that are just piling up as well, the paperwork or admin stuff for that rainy day, that you need to get rid of…… This time you can get your children involved to help where they can, learning about sorting (colours, numbers, opposites) and tearing for recycling (good finger exercises or fine motor exercises).
Tidy-up the house, get kids bathing, parent cooks dinner, kids set and clear the table (older kids can wash dishes), storytime (older kids can read) and then bedtime (thereafter parents if work was not completed, this is your time).
