Part 3: Family Activities that Instill......Respect!

As a parent and parenting therapist, I have seen firsthand how challenging it can be to instil respect in our children. Over my years of working with families, I've collected these activities that not only teach respect but make the learning process enjoyable for everyone involved. I believe that respect isn't just taught—it's caught through daily interactions and intentional moments together. These activities have helped countless families in my practice, and I'm excited to share them with you today. Remember, the goal isn't perfection but progress as we guide our children toward becoming respectful individuals.

Every parent wants their child to be respectful to them and grow up with respect not only for themselves but for others as well. Often parents will tell the child to, "Say thank you to the lady." or "Ask your friend nicely if you can play along or use his pen or ball." Remember it doesn't help forcing respect upon your children, if you yourself don't display some respect towards others and your children (and don't forget yourselves)! You've heard of: " what they see and hear is what they do". Be a good example!

"Respect..... is a positive feeling or action shown towards someone or something considered important or held in high esteem or regard. It conveys a sense of admiration for good or valuable qualities. And it is also the process of honoring someone by exhibiting care, concern, or consideration for their needs or feelings." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Respect
